Charleston, WV – West Virginians in Charleston woke up to sharply cooler temperatures Friday morning as a cold front moved through the region, delivering brisk air and a notable dip in temperatures. This cooler weather is expected to linger until Saturday, before a warming trend begins Sunday, offering residents a diverse weather lineup for the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, Friday temperatures in Charleston will only peak around 66 degrees by afternoon, with bright sunshine offsetting the chill. Residents are advised to dress in layers to stay comfortable as the day progresses. Friday night will see temperatures drop even further, reaching a low of 40 degrees, so those heading out in the evening should plan for the cold.

The forecast for Saturday is similar, with highs expected to reach 68 degrees and mostly clear skies. This mild, sunny weather will continue throughout the day, making it ideal for outdoor activities. However, nighttime lows will again fall to the low 40s, so any plans extending into the evening should account for the chilly air.

The real warmth returns Sunday when the high reaches 75 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Sunday night will bring slightly milder conditions, with lows around 52. Monday’s forecast shows a continuation of the warming trend, with highs nearing 78 degrees.

The beginning of next week will offer Charleston residents a brief respite from the cool air, as Monday and Tuesday bring highs of 78 and 83 degrees, respectively. However, rain could return Tuesday night, with a 50% chance of showers that may extend into Wednesday. Midweek highs will stay in the low 70s, maintaining moderate temperatures with the possibility of scattered showers.

Residents are encouraged to keep an eye on the local forecast as conditions may shift. Those traveling or planning outdoor events should monitor the NWS updates to stay prepared.
