Davis, West Virginia – Snow-covered mountain roads in Eastern Tucker County could become nearly impassable tonight as up to 14 inches of additional snowfall combines with wind gusts reaching 45 mph through 1 a.m. Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for Eastern Tucker County, including Thomas, Canaan Valley and Davis. Forecasters expect 8 to 14 inches of accumulation, with blowing snow reducing visibility below a quarter mile at times tonight and Monday.

Higher elevations along Route 32 through Canaan Valley and Route 93 near Davis will see drifting snow and rapidly changing visibility, especially during heavier bursts. Gusty winds may snap tree branches and trigger sporadic power outages across exposed ridges. Travel conditions are expected to deteriorate quickly after sunset and remain hazardous through the Monday evening commute.

Officials urge residents to delay travel if possible. If you must drive, use extreme caution, allow extra stopping distance and prepare for sudden whiteouts. Keep emergency supplies, blankets and a charged phone in your vehicle.

Snow will gradually taper late Monday night, but slick roads and drifting could persist into early Tuesday morning as crews work to clear higher terrain routes.
