Baltimore, MD – Morning commuters across parts of Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia are facing limited visibility today as a dense fog advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Wednesday.
According to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington office, the advisory covers eastern West Virginia, western Virginia, and western Maryland, including areas such as Cumberland, Winchester, Petersburg, Romney, and Oakland.
The weather service warned that visibility could drop below a quarter-mile in some locations, making travel hazardous during the morning rush. Drivers are urged to slow down, keep headlights on, and allow extra time to reach destinations.
Major roadways impacted include Interstates 68, 70, 81, and 66, along with smaller highways running through the Appalachian region. Residents traveling toward Washington, D.C., or Baltimore from the west should be prepared for sudden visibility changes.
The advisory is expected to expire by mid-morning as temperatures rise and fog lifts. Until then, officials encourage motorists to use caution and report any traffic hazards caused by the weather.
