Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – A steady band of rain is expected to move into southwestern Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia late Tuesday, bringing the risk of over an inch of rainfall by Wednesday morning—particularly south of US-22.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, the heaviest rain is likely in the higher elevations south of US-22, where there’s a 20% to 50% chance of exceeding 1 inch of precipitation. North of US-22, the chance drops to 10% to 20%. Rain is expected to begin for most areas by Tuesday night and continue through much of Wednesday.

Communities including Morgantown, Uniontown, and parts of the Laurel Highlands may experience heavier downpours, which could lead to ponding on roads and reduced visibility during the Wednesday morning commute. Drivers should slow down and allow extra travel time, especially on rural or hilly routes.

Residents are urged to check storm drains, prepare for potential water pooling, and monitor local alerts. While flooding is not expected at this time, conditions could shift if rainfall rates increase.

Additional updates may follow if rainfall intensifies or the threat area expands. Rain chances continue through late Wednesday.
