Charleston, WV – Isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon along a diffuse frontal boundary. Mainly dry conditions are anticipated through the first half of Thursday, with rain chances increasing across the east as moisture from Debby approaches. This moisture should yield much-needed rainfall for some, although the precipitation gradient is expected to be sharp.
According to the National Weather Service Charleston, WV, rainfall should shift slightly east or west over the next 24 hours as Debby comes back onshore in South Carolina and accelerates northward. Precipitation will largely exit by late Friday into early Saturday, with drier conditions taking hold for the weekend.
Today’s forecast includes isolated to scattered storms this afternoon and increased humidity. Thursday will remain mainly dry in the morning, with rain increasing in the afternoon and continuing into Friday. Rainfall will be heavier in the mountains, and isolated high water issues are possible in areas with poor drainage.
Friday brings the highest precipitation chances east of I-79 and Charleston, tapering off overnight. The weekend promises drier conditions with cooler temperatures, with highs in the low 80s and lows in the 60s. Monday and Tuesday will continue the trend of cooler weather, with temperatures remaining in the low 80s.
