Charleston, WV – Snow and rain will continue to impact travel across West Virginia into Saturday, with hazardous conditions expected in mountainous areas. Residents in higher elevations should prepare for significant snowfall, while lowland areas are likely to see rainfall by Friday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, areas above 3,000 feet could experience more than 12 inches of snow accumulation through Saturday. Dangerous driving conditions are expected in these regions, particularly along Route 33 and Route 219. Lower elevations may see snow mix with rain, leading to slick roadways during the evening commute.

Rain will taper off Friday night into Saturday morning, with snow becoming confined to the northeast mountains. Drivers are urged to avoid travel in affected regions above 3,000 feet and use caution elsewhere, particularly on bridges and overpasses prone to freezing.

Looking ahead, the weekend forecast includes lingering clouds and chilly temperatures. Saturday’s high is expected to reach 48 degrees in Charleston, with lows near 34 degrees overnight. Sunday will be mostly sunny and milder, with highs in the mid-50s.

Thanksgiving week begins with rain showers likely Monday evening into Tuesday, followed by clearer, seasonable weather through midweek.

Travelers are encouraged to monitor local weather updates and plan accordingly to ensure safety during the holiday period. Those in mountain regions should prepare for delays and potential power outages due to accumulating snow.
