West Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky Flood Watch: Heavy Rain Expected Wednesday Evening Through Sunday

Charleston, WV – A flood watch remains in effect from Wednesday evening through Sunday morning for parts of West Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky, as multiple rounds of heavy rainfall could lead to widespread flooding.

According to the National Weather Service, areas affected include northeast Kentucky, southeast Ohio, and much of western West Virginia, including cities like Huntington, Athens, and Parkersburg. The storm system is expected to bring significant rainfall through Saturday night, potentially causing creeks and streams to overflow.

Excessive runoff could lead to flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Rivers such as the Hocking, Muskingum, Little Sandy, and Ohio Rivers may also see rising water levels over the weekend.

Residents in flood-prone areas are urged to prepare for possible evacuations and to monitor the situation closely. The National Weather Service advises people to stay alert for updates and take necessary precautions to stay safe.
