Elkins, WV – Residents across north-central and eastern West Virginia are being urged to protect outdoor plants and pipes as a Frost Advisory remains in effect for early Thursday morning, followed by a Freeze Watch for late Thursday night into Friday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, temperatures are expected to dip as low as 32 to 36 degrees overnight Wednesday into Thursday, bringing frost formation to areas including Taylor, Upshur, Barbour, and Webster Counties.
Colder air will deepen Thursday night, with lows possibly dropping into the upper 20s in parts of Randolph and Pocahontas Counties, including Elkins, Snowshoe, and Harman. Forecasters warn that crops, outdoor vegetation, and unprotected plumbing could be damaged or killed under these conditions.
Residents should bring in sensitive plants, cover outdoor vegetation, and winterize exposed pipes and spigots before temperatures fall.
