Charleston, WV – Heavy rainfall has led to ongoing flooding in parts of southern West Virginia. A flood warning is now in effect for Fayette and Raleigh counties until midnight tonight.

According to the National Weather Service, between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen across the region due to thunderstorms, causing rivers, creeks, and streams to rise. Numerous roads in the affected areas remain closed, creating significant travel disruptions. Locations including Pax, Arnett, Dorothy, Naoma, Artie, and Stickney are experiencing or expecting flooding.

Flooding continues to impact low-lying and flood-prone areas. The National Weather Service advises residents to avoid traveling on flooded roads, as most flood-related fatalities occur in vehicles.

As rainfall persists, the threat of additional flooding remains high. Authorities urge anyone in the affected areas to stay informed and take necessary precautions. For more flood safety information, visit the National Weather Service website.
