Charleston, WV – Heavy rain continues across West Virginia today, with a Flood Watch in effect through this evening. The rain will taper off overnight, making way for a drier and much warmer start to February.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), rainfall totals between 1 to 2.5 inches could lead to localized flooding, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Residents should monitor road conditions and avoid driving through standing water.
Saturday will bring cloudy skies early, followed by gradual clearing and a high of 46°F. By Sunday, sunshine returns with highs near 61°F, kicking off an unseasonably warm trend. Monday will see temperatures soar to 65°F with mostly sunny conditions.
Looking ahead, Tuesday remains warm with highs in the mid-60s before cooler temperatures return midweek. No additional storms are expected through Thursday.
Drivers should remain cautious today, particularly near low-water crossings and flood-prone areas. After today’s rain, expect a dry and comfortable start to the new month.
