West Virginia residents can expect a shift in the weather as midweek brings light rain and cooler temperatures to the northern mountains. The National Weather Service forecasts a cold front arriving by Friday, leading to scattered showers across the region, including areas near I-64 and I-77.

According to the National Weather Service, dry conditions will persist through Thursday, with Wednesday being one of the warmest days, especially in the lowlands, where temperatures will hover around 80 degrees. However, by Friday, the approaching front could bring light showers, particularly in the mountainous areas, with temperatures dropping to the mid-60s.

Those planning to travel along major roads like I-64 or I-79 this weekend should be aware of potential wet conditions starting Friday night. While rainfall amounts are expected to be light, roadways may become slick, and visibility could be reduced during showers. The cold front will also bring a significant temperature drop, with mountain highs falling to the low 50s by Saturday, and lowland regions seeing temperatures in the upper 60s.

Residents are advised to prepare for cooler weather and to monitor the forecast for potential changes. The current dry spell is expected to resume by next week, with warmer temperatures returning for Halloween celebrations.
