Charleston, West Virginia – A stretch of dry and mild late-August weather continues across West Virginia, but residents in higher elevations may wake up to an early taste of fall. Patchy frost is possible in the mountain valleys by Thursday morning as temperatures dip into the upper 30s overnight.

According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, this crisp pattern will persist through the weekend, with clear skies and low humidity allowing for quick cooling at night. Overnight lows will range from the upper 30s to mid-40s in the mountains, while lowland areas hold in the 40s and 50s.

Daytime highs will stay pleasant, hovering near 80°F across much of the region. From Thursday through Saturday, expect partly to mostly sunny skies, with no precipitation in sight.

Drivers in the higher terrain should be aware of reduced visibility in early morning frost-prone areas, and gardeners may want to protect sensitive plants until the pattern warms.

The dry spell is expected to hold through the weekend, with temperatures gradually rising by early next week. No weather alerts are currently posted, but additional advisories could be issued if frost risks expand.
