Charleston, WV – A warming trend will start Monday across Charleston and much of West Virginia, with temperatures expected to reach the mid-70s, potentially challenging record highs by Tuesday. Residents are advised to take advantage of the early week’s dry conditions as a cold front is set to bring rain showers by midweek.
According to the National Weather Service, Monday and Tuesday will feature mostly sunny skies and breezy conditions, with highs between 75-85 degrees in the lowlands. Winds from the southeast could reach gusts up to 20 mph Monday evening, adding to the unseasonably warm and dry conditions. This warmth, unusual for early November, is likely to persist into Tuesday before an incoming cold front shifts the weather pattern.
Rain showers are expected to arrive in the Charleston area on Wednesday, with an 80% chance of precipitation. These showers, potentially heavy at times, will bring cooler temperatures, with highs dropping to the low 70s. Rain may linger into Wednesday night and Thursday, with a continued 60% chance of precipitation. Commuters are advised to exercise caution on slick roads, particularly along major routes like I-64 and I-77, where wet surfaces and reduced visibility could impact driving conditions.
High pressure will move in on Friday, bringing dry and mild weather back to the region. Daytime highs will stabilize around the low 70s, and sunshine is expected to persist into Saturday before another possible system arrives next weekend.
