Lubbock, TX – Warm, above-average temperatures will continue across the South Plains this week, with only slight chances for rain midweek, according to the National Weather Service in Lubbock.
The agency said Sunday that highs will remain in the upper 80s through Friday, with overnight lows near 60 degrees. The week’s coolest period—and the only notable chance for rain—arrives Tuesday and Wednesday, when isolated showers and a few thunderstorms are possible.
According to the forecast, rain chances peak at 10% both days, mainly west and northwest of Lubbock. Despite the minimal rainfall expected, forecasters note that any storms could briefly cool temperatures before sunshine returns late in the week.
By Thursday and Friday, conditions are expected to dry out again, keeping highs in the mid- to upper-80s and continuing the trend of above-normal warmth for early October.
Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated and use caution outdoors as temperatures stay several degrees above seasonal averages.
