Lubbock, Texas – Cloudy skies and cooler air will hold over the South Plains this weekend as low rain chances linger through Sunday before a warm, dry stretch takes over early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Lubbock, Saturday’s high will top out in the low to mid-70s with a 20% chance of scattered showers. Sunday brings the best opportunity for rain at 30%, with highs rising into the upper 70s and low 80s. Thunder chances remain isolated, but brief downpours could make roads slick during the evening.

By Monday, conditions start to shift as temperatures climb into the upper 80s under partly cloudy skies, though a 20% chance of rain remains. Sunshine dominates Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs in the low 90s Tuesday and potentially reaching the mid-90s by Wednesday. Rain chances drop to 10% or less during this period.

Residents should plan for a damp weekend but prepare for much hotter afternoons by midweek. Outdoor activities and travel will be easier once storms clear, though hydration and sun protection will be important as heat builds.
