El Paso, Texas – Triple-digit heat will continue to grip far West Texas through Saturday night, with highs reaching up to 106°F in El Paso and surrounding communities. A Heat Advisory remains in effect until 9 p.m. Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service in El Paso, the advisory covers all of El Paso County and the Rio Grande Valley regions of Hudspeth County, including Socorro, Fort Bliss, Tornillo, Fabens, and Fort Hancock. Afternoon highs between 102°F and 106°F will drive a heightened risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, especially for those working or spending extended time outdoors.
Residents are urged to stay indoors during peak heat hours and drink plenty of fluids. Air-conditioned spaces are essential for safety, especially for older adults and vulnerable populations. Light, loose clothing is recommended, and outdoor exercise should be limited to early morning or evening hours.
Temperatures are expected to remain dangerously high through the weekend, with little overnight relief. Emergency officials recommend checking on neighbors and monitoring for signs of heat illness, including dizziness, nausea, and confusion.
The Heat Advisory remains active through 9 p.m. Saturday, and additional alerts could be issued if the heat lingers into early next week.
