Lubbock, Texas – Mild sunshine and cooler-than-average temperatures are settling across the South Plains today as a cold front moves through West Texas. Cities from Lubbock to Friona will enjoy clear skies and refreshing lows dipping into the 40s and 50s tonight.
According to the National Weather Service in Lubbock, Tuesday’s highs will top out between 78°F in Friona and 85°F in Aspermont, with overnight lows as chilly as 48°F in the northwest corner of the region. This brief cool spell comes after last week’s string of 90-degree days.
Drivers in Plainview and Brownfield will wake to crisp morning air on Wednesday, with overnight lows near 50°F and 54°F respectively. The front has brought calmer, drier conditions ideal for outdoor activity but still cool enough for a jacket after sunset.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the mild pattern before warmer, more typical May heat returns later in the week. No watches or warnings are in effect at this time, but updates will follow if conditions change.
