MEMPHIS, TN — A weak weather disturbance will move across the Mid-South on Saturday, bringing the chance for a few light snow showers or flurries north of Interstate 40, according to the National Weather Service in Memphis.
While temperatures will be near freezing early Saturday, forecasters emphasize that no significant accumulation is expected, and travel impacts are not anticipated.
“Rain may briefly change to snow north of I-40 early Saturday morning before tapering off,” meteorologists said. “This will be a light event, with only a few flakes possible for most areas.”
Forecast Highlights:
- Timing: Early Saturday morning through midday.
- Locations Most Likely to See Flurries:
- Poplar Bluff, MO: ~88% chance of a light dusting
- Thayer, MO: ~81% chance
- Jonesboro, AR: ~46% chance
- Paragould, AR: ~54% chance
- Dyersburg, TN: ~43% chance
- Memphis Metro: Only a 10% chance of seeing a few flakes.
- Accumulation: None expected — ground temperatures too warm.
The NWS notes that any brief flakes will melt quickly on contact, especially on roads and sidewalks.
Looking ahead, forecasters are monitoring another system early next week that could bring a more notable chance of wintry precipitation if temperatures remain cold enough.
