MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A persistent pattern of showers and thunderstorms will define the weather picture for Memphis this week, bringing daily chances for rain that could disrupt travel and outdoor activities, including the Juneteenth holiday.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, the region will see repeated opportunities for storms beginning Monday afternoon. Monday brings an 80% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 5 p.m., with new rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch possible. Residents should secure outdoor items and prepare for sudden downpours during the evening commute. The unsettled weather continues into Monday night with a 40% chance of additional storms.

The wet conditions carry into Tuesday with a 40% chance of thunderstorms and a high near 89 degrees. Conditions will briefly clear Tuesday night before a mostly sunny Wednesday offers a short dry period, with a high soaring to 92 degrees. However, the storm chances return just in time for the Juneteenth holiday on Thursday, which holds a 60% chance for showers and thunderstorms. Those with outdoor plans for the holiday should prepare alternate arrangements and monitor weather updates closely.

The weekend outlook shows a similar trend. Friday is expected to be partly sunny with a high near 93, but a 20% chance of storms remains after 1 p.m. Saturday will be mostly clear with a high near 95, offering the best chance for dry conditions. The pattern reloads by Sunday, with a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms accompanying another high of 95 degrees. Residents should remain aware of changing conditions throughout the week.
