Memphis, TN – Parts of West Tennessee soaked up over three inches of rain this weekend, with Collierville recording the highest total at 3.05 inches, according to the National Weather Service in Memphis. The rainfall data covers the 24-hour period from Saturday 7 p.m. to Sunday 7 p.m., bringing a widespread soaking across the Mid-South.
According to the NWS, Atoka (2.97 inches) and Bartlett (2.74 inches) followed closely behind, while Arlington, Mason, and Nesbit, MS all saw between 2.5 and 2.7 inches. Even Memphis itself received 2.14 inches at the official city station, with East Memphis reporting 2.22 inches.
The steady rainfall caused ponding on some roads Sunday morning, though no major flooding was reported. The precipitation helped ease recent dry conditions across Shelby, Tipton, and Fayette counties following several weeks of below-normal rainfall.
Forecasters say more light rain could develop early this week as temperatures trend cooler, but no severe weather is expected at this time. Drivers should remain cautious of slick conditions during the Monday morning commute, especially in low-lying or poorly drained areas.
Residents are encouraged to monitor updates from the National Weather Service Memphis for additional rainfall totals and early-week forecasts.
