Jackson, TN – Much of West Tennessee will face a sharp burst of dangerous cold early Sunday as a Cold Weather Advisory takes effect from midnight Saturday night to 9 a.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Memphis.
For Henderson and Decatur counties—including Lexington, Parsons, and Decaturville—wind chills may fall to around 5 degrees. A broader advisory remains in effect for Lake, Obion, Weakley, Henry, Dyer, Gibson, Carroll, Benton, Lauderdale, Tipton, Haywood, Crockett, and Madison counties, where wind chills may drop even lower, to around zero degrees.
NWS forecasters warn that these conditions can cause frostbite and hypothermia if unprotected skin is exposed for prolonged periods. The coldest temperatures are expected just before sunrise Sunday, as Arctic air settles across the region and winds increase slightly.
Officials encourage residents to bundle up, limit outdoor time, and prepare for very cold conditions during early-morning travel. Pet owners are reminded to keep animals indoors whenever possible or ensure they have adequate, insulated shelter.
More updates will be provided as the advisory period approaches.
