Memphis, TN – After a stretch of warm, dry weather, rain is set to make a return to the Mid-South beginning Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Memphis. Multiple rounds of showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to move into the area early in the week, bringing measurable rainfall through Wednesday.
According to the latest NWS forecast, rainfall totals between 0.5 and 1.5 inches are expected, with the heaviest amounts likely across northeast Arkansas, the Missouri Bootheel, and portions of West Tennessee. Rain chances increase significantly Monday, peaking Monday night into Tuesday, with some areas seeing a 60 to 70 percent likelihood of precipitation.
Forecasters say isolated thunderstorms could also develop, though widespread severe weather is not expected at this time. Conditions should begin to clear by midweek, leading to a drier, cooler pattern later in the week.
Residents are advised to plan for wet commutes Monday and Tuesday and to monitor local forecasts for updated rainfall projections.
