Oklahoma City, Okla. – A 3.4 magnitude earthquake struck northern Oklahoma near the Kansas state line, jolting residents across Braman and triggering tremors felt as far as Wichita and Oklahoma City.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the quake occurred at 10:13 PM approximately 4 km southeast of Braman, with a shallow depth of 7.8 km. It followed two earlier Oklahoma quakes — including a 2.5 magnitude event south of Bradley around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday — marking an unusual uptick in regional seismic activity.

Earlier in the day, two smaller earthquakes were recorded in Kansas: a magnitude 2.5 southwest of Gypsum just before 4 a.m., and a stronger 3.4 magnitude quake northwest of Woodston at 4:18 p.m. Both were felt locally, though no damage was reported.

While none of the quakes caused significant damage, residents are advised to check home foundations, secure heavy furniture, and review emergency earthquake safety plans. The Oklahoma Geological Survey is monitoring for potential aftershocks.

Seismic activity in this region, often linked to deep wastewater injection wells, has fluctuated in recent years but remains a concern for residents and infrastructure alike.

More shaking is possible over the next 48 hours as agencies monitor aftershock potential.
