Grand Rapids, MI – Parts of west and southwest Michigan saw a soaking weekend as a slow-moving system brought steady, widespread rainfall across the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, rainfall totals between Saturday morning and Sunday morning reached as high as 2.68 inches in Schoolcraft, with other significant amounts including 2.28 inches in Portage, 2.22 inches in Van Buren County’s Paw Paw, and 2.14 inches in Lansing.
Most locations across Kent, Kalamazoo, Allegan, and Ottawa counties recorded between 1.5 and 2 inches of rain, helping to ease ongoing dry conditions in some areas. No major flooding was reported, but minor ponding on roads and reduced visibility were noted during the heaviest periods of rainfall Saturday night.
Forecasters say the storm system has since shifted east, with cooler and drier weather expected to return early in the week. However, additional light rain could develop midweek as another weak disturbance moves across the Great Lakes.
Residents are encouraged to check local forecasts for updated precipitation and travel impacts.
