Portland, OR – The West Coast is set to experience a cooler, wetter pattern from October 24 through October 28, 2025, according to the NOAA Climate Prediction Center’s latest 6–10 day outlook. The forecast shows below-normal temperatures across Washington, Oregon, and California, along with above-normal precipitation in the Pacific Northwest as multiple storm systems move inland.

According to NOAA’s report issued October 18, a series of Pacific fronts will deliver widespread rain to coastal areas and early-season snow to the Cascades and northern Sierra Nevada. Temperatures are expected to run 5–10 degrees below average, with highs generally in the 50s and low 60s along the coast and cooler readings inland.

In Northern California, showers are likely to increase late in the week, offering potential drought relief but also raising the risk of slippery roads and travel slowdowns. The Pacific Northwest—including Seattle, Portland, and Spokane—could see several inches of rain through the period, with gusty winds accompanying each passing front. Southern California, meanwhile, will remain mostly dry but slightly cooler than normal.

Meteorologists say this marks the beginning of a typical late-October transition toward wetter weather in the West, as Pacific storm tracks strengthen under El Niño conditions. The pattern may continue into early November, favoring much-needed moisture across drought-affected regions.
