St. Charles, IL – A West Chicago teen has been sentenced to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to attempted first-degree murder for a violent assault on an autistic man. The teen, Sebastian P. Kegebein, who was nearly 16 at the time, admitted to brutally beating the 19-year-old victim on July 23, 2023, leaving him with severe, life-threatening injuries.
Kane County prosecutors described the attack, which took place on Old Kirk Road, as merciless, noting the victim continues to suffer from permanent brain damage. The case against Kegebein’s co-defendant, Jacob Berrera, is ongoing.
