West Chicago, Ill. — The West Chicago Police Department has released results from the Fourth of July traffic safety campaign. The campaign focused on distracted and impaired driving and ran from June 20 to July 7.
The department issued one impaired driving arrest and 61 seat belt citations over the campaign. Traffic notices included one Aggravated Driving While License Revoked, which is a felony. There were also five Suspended/Revoked/Unlicensed Drivers, nine Uninsured Vehicles, eight Suspended Registration Violations, 17 Speeding Violations, five Distracted Driving Violations and one Fugitive Apprehension.
The Fourth of July “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” “Drive High, Get a DUI” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns were a joint effort with the Illinois State Police and over 200 other local law enforcement offices. The campaigns are funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
