Lafayette, IN – A band of evening snow is expected to blanket parts of western and north-central Indiana starting Monday at 5 p.m., with totals reaching up to 4 inches by early Tuesday. Drivers from Crawfordsville to Kokomo should expect slippery roads and limited visibility during both the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes.
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through 7 a.m. Tuesday for counties including Tippecanoe, Howard, Clinton, and Parke. Snow will begin falling just before sunset and intensify overnight, creating hazardous travel conditions on major routes like I-65, US-231, and State Road 26.
Localized snow bands may briefly reduce visibility, especially during the evening rush. Public safety officials advise limiting travel after dark unless necessary and encourage drivers to reduce speed and allow extra time. Road crews are expected to pretreat priority routes, but secondary roads may remain slick into early Tuesday.
The advisory remains in place until shortly after daybreak, with updates possible depending on how snow bands evolve overnight.
