New York, NY — A chilly start to the weekend will give way to increasing clouds and eventually a soaking rainfall on Sunday across the New York City region, according to the National Weather Service in New York.
Saturday will feature cold but calmer conditions as winds continue to weaken through the morning and afternoon. High temperatures will only reach the lower 40s, keeping the day well below normal for late November. Skies will remain partly sunny with a dry forecast through tonight.
Clouds will thicken this evening as moisture moves in from the southwest, and overnight lows will fall into the mid-20s to mid-30s across the region.
The main weather event arrives on Sunday, when rain develops—first across New Jersey and New York City, then spreading northeastward into the Hudson Valley and Connecticut. High temperatures will climb into the low 40s to lower 50s, warm enough for most areas to see all rain.
However, a brief mix of rain and wet snow is possible early Sunday morning across some interior spots north and west of the city, including portions of the lower Hudson Valley and northwest New Jersey. The wintry mix should be short-lived with no significant accumulations expected.
Rain continues through Sunday afternoon before tapering off during the evening. Sunday night temperatures drop into the upper 20s to mid-30s, but no refreeze hazards are currently anticipated due to gradual drying behind the system.
The upcoming workweek is expected to feature more seasonal temperatures, with additional weather systems possible later in the week.
Residents should plan for a dry but chilly Saturday, followed by a soggy Sunday that may impact afternoon travel and outdoor plans. Updates will be issued as forecast details become clearer.
