Detroit, Michigan – Cooler, more comfortable air is settling into southeast Michigan through Friday, but residents should prepare for a soggy start to the weekend as thunderstorms move in Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, today will stay breezy and partly sunny, with highs near 80 degrees and humidity levels dropping noticeably throughout the afternoon. Friday continues the trend, staying mostly sunny with highs in the upper 70s and lows dipping into the upper 50s.

The shift arrives Saturday when widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected across the region, including Detroit, Ann Arbor, Flint, and Monroe. Rain could begin by late morning and persist into the evening. While severe weather is not currently expected, localized downpours and lightning may impact outdoor plans.

By Sunday, skies should begin to clear, bringing a mix of sun and clouds and a return to near 80°F highs. Nights will remain mild, with lows between 58–62°F through the weekend.

Residents planning weekend travel or events should monitor forecasts and have a rain plan in place for Saturday. Use caution on wet roads and consider postponing outdoor activities during stormy periods.

More updates are expected as the weekend approaches, with alerts possible depending on storm development.
