Tulsa, OK – Thunderstorms are expected to return across northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas Friday night, continuing into Saturday as a cold front pushes through the region. Residents should prepare for potentially severe conditions, including large hail and damaging winds.
According to the National Weather Service, a marginal risk for severe storms exists in northeast Oklahoma Friday night, increasing to a slight risk Saturday for far eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas. The highest threat is anticipated Saturday afternoon and evening, when the strongest storms could produce hail up to golf-ball size and wind gusts exceeding 60 mph.
Forecasters say the main hazards will be large hail and locally damaging winds, but a limited tornado threat cannot be ruled out on Saturday. The storms are expected to move east through the evening before weakening overnight.
Residents in the affected areas—including Tulsa, Fort Smith, and Fayetteville—are urged to stay weather-aware and have multiple ways to receive warnings. The NWS also advises securing outdoor items and reviewing severe weather safety plans ahead of the weekend.
