Rainfall amounts of 1 to 3+ inches are possible, primarily across portions of northeast Iowa and southwestern Wisconsin. Residents are urged to be alert for additional river rises and flooding in susceptible low-lying areas.

According to the US National Weather Service La Crosse, the highest confidence for heavier rainfall is across northeastern Iowa and southwestern Wisconsin through tonight. Increased flash flooding potential exists across these regions. The exact axis of heavy rainfall remains somewhat uncertain, but shifts in amounts will impact flooding potential.

Residents are advised to monitor the latest weather and river forecasts, clear debris from gutters and storm drains, and ensure sump pumps are working. Flash flooding is particularly likely in vulnerable areas.

The full forecast for La Crosse shows a mix of conditions over the next few days. After today’s storms, Thursday will have a 40% chance of showers with temperatures reaching a high of 83°F. Friday sees a higher chance of rain at 55%, with temperatures slightly cooler at 73°F. The weekend brings sunnier skies, with highs of 80°F on Saturday and 77°F on Sunday.
