Charleston, WV – Winter weather created hazardous road conditions across parts of West Virginia from Sunday night into Monday morning. Areas including Southeast Raleigh, Southeast Nicholas, and Webster counties experienced up to 3 inches of snow and nearly a quarter of an inch of ice.

According to the National Weather Service, freezing rain and snow combined with gusty winds made roads icy and treacherous. Crews worked through the night, salting and plowing major routes, but secondary roads remained slick. Commuters faced delays as temperatures stayed below freezing, keeping roads hazardous during the morning rush.

The weather is expected to clear later Monday, but icy patches may persist in shaded areas. Travelers should check local updates and monitor conditions before heading out.
