Beach Park, IL – A Waukegan man has been charged with first-degree murder following a fatal shooting in Beach Park earlier this month.
Lake County Sheriff’s detectives arrested Cyncere L. Tillman, 24, of the 300 block of Green Bay Road, on Monday in connection with the killing of Tavontee Fox, a known associate.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Tillman arranged a meeting with Fox near the 39300 block of Melbourne Court in Beach Park. During the encounter, an argument broke out, leading Tillman to allegedly fire multiple shots at Fox and the driver of the vehicle he was in. Fox was struck and later died after being transported to the hospital.
Authorities say forensic evidence and investigative work identified Tillman as the suspect. He was taken into custody in the 300 block of Washington Street in Waukegan without incident.
The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office has approved two counts of first-degree murder against Tillman. He remains in custody at the Lake County Jail pending an initial court hearing Tuesday.
The investigation remains active, and authorities encourage anyone with information to contact the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 847-377-4000.
