Wauconda, IL – A 37-year-old man was killed Tuesday morning after being crushed beneath a vehicle at a business in Wauconda, authorities confirmed.

According to the Wauconda Police Department, officers and fire personnel responded around 8:52 a.m. to a report of a person trapped under a vehicle at 398 W. Liberty Street, Unit D.

Upon arrival, responders found the victim pinned under the front end of the vehicle. Wauconda Fire District crews lifted the vehicle and extricated the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the vehicle had been elevated roughly five feet on a lift when the rear end slipped off, trapping the man underneath. Before he could escape, the front end also dropped, resulting in fatal injuries.

The incident remains under active investigation by Wauconda Police and the Lake County Coroner’s Office, pending autopsy results.
