Ann Arbor, MI – A driver was ticketed this week after allegedly traveling 75 mph in a 35-mph zone near Plymouth Road and Barton Drive in Ann Arbor, according to the Ann Arbor Police Department.

Police said the driver asked to receive only a warning but was instead cited with a ticket and fine, carrying hundreds of dollars in penalties along with points on their license. Officers emphasized that such excessive speeding poses a serious risk to other motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.

According to police, speeding remains one of the leading causes of severe and fatal crashes. Officers in Ann Arbor are currently stepping up enforcement against reckless driving, including impaired driving, distracted driving, and failure to yield.

The incident highlights the city’s ongoing Vision Zero program, which seeks to eliminate traffic deaths and serious injuries. Police urged drivers to slow down, stay alert, and make safety a priority.

“Traveling at excessive speeds like this is never acceptable, even if you’re late for a meeting,” the department noted in a statement.

The enforcement effort comes as part of a broader push across Washtenaw County to address dangerous driving behavior on local roads.
