Seattle, WA – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for parts of Washington’s Cascade Mountains, with up to 7 inches of additional snowfall expected through Thursday night.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the advisory covers the Cascades of Southern King County, as well as Pierce and Lewis Counties, including areas such as Snoqualmie Pass, Crystal Mountain, and Mount Rainier. The advisory is in place until 11 p.m. PDT Thursday.
The snowfall is expected to create hazardous travel conditions, particularly on bridges, overpasses, and mountain passes. Motorists are urged to drive with caution, reduce speed, and prepare for slick and snow-covered roads. Chains or traction tires may be required in some areas.
Forecasters warn that the heaviest snowfall will occur in the afternoon and early evening before tapering off later at night. Visibility may be reduced at times, making travel more difficult.
Residents and travelers in the affected areas should monitor weather updates and be prepared for winter driving conditions. Carrying emergency supplies such as blankets, food, and water is recommended for those traveling through the mountains.
More updates will be provided as conditions develop.
