Seattle, WA – A winter weather advisory is in effect across the northern Washington Cascades, where snow is expected to impact travel from late Saturday through Sunday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Seattle, the advisory runs from 11 p.m. Saturday until 11 a.m. Sunday, covering the Cascades in Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish, and northern King counties. Areas such as Stevens Pass and Mount Baker could receive 5 to 10 inches of snow during that time.

Forecasters warn that travel through mountain passes may become hazardous overnight, with reduced visibility and snow-covered roads likely. The heaviest snow is expected during the early morning hours Sunday, a period when plowing services may be limited.

Residents and travelers are advised to slow down, drive with caution, and be prepared for delays or possible road closures. Power outages are also possible due to accumulating snow on tree branches and power lines.

This advisory follows a series of relatively mild March weeks, marking a return to more typical early-spring weather patterns in the Washington Cascades. Drivers using U.S. Highway 2 and State Route 542 should monitor conditions closely.

Additional updates and road conditions are available through the Washington State Department of Transportation.
