Seattle, WA – Western Washington’s first significant snowfall of the season is on the way, with the National Weather Service issuing multiple Winter Weather Advisories for the Cascade Mountains beginning early Sunday, Oct. 12, through Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service Seattle, the advisories cover the Cascades of Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish, Northern King, Pierce, and Lewis Counties, including Mount Baker, Stevens Pass, Snoqualmie Pass, White Pass, and Mount Rainier. Snow totals are expected to range from 4 to 10 inches, with locally higher amounts possible at Paradise on Mount Rainier and other elevations above 4,000 feet.

Forecasters said colder air will move into Western Washington Saturday night, bringing mountain snow through Monday. The agency cautions that travel could be very difficult, particularly across U.S. Highway 2 at Stevens Pass and State Route 410 near Crystal Mountain. Drivers are urged to slow down, carry chains, and check mountain pass conditions before traveling.

This marks the first notable snowfall of the 2025–2026 season, signaling the start of winter conditions in the Cascades. Outdoor enthusiasts and hikers are advised to prepare for wintry weather and a higher risk of hypothermia due to dropping temperatures and wet conditions.
