Seattle, WA – A series of winter weather advisories and storm watches have been issued for western Washington, with snowfall expected to impact travel and daily activities through Monday morning.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Seattle, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Saturday for multiple areas, including the North Coast, Western Strait of Juan De Fuca, Southwest Interior, Western Whatcom County, Central Coast, Lower Chehalis Valley, East Puget Sound Lowlands, and Western Skagit County. Snow accumulations of up to 3 inches are possible in these areas, with isolated pockets receiving less due to localized snow showers.
A Winter Storm Watch is also in place from Saturday evening through Monday morning, with heavier snow expected. Areas under the watch, including Western Whatcom County, the Central Coast, and the East Puget Sound Lowlands, could see 3 to 9 inches of snow. Winds may gust up to 35 mph, potentially causing power outages and making travel hazardous, particularly for the Monday morning commute.
Residents are urged to drive cautiously, prepare for possible power disruptions, and monitor updated forecasts. Snowfall patterns are expected to vary significantly based on location, especially near the waterfront.
