Seattle, WA – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 4 a.m. Wednesday for the Cascade Mountains of King, Snohomish, Pierce, and Lewis Counties, where snow and light ice accumulations are expected to make mountain travel hazardous overnight.
According to the National Weather Service in Seattle, the affected areas include Snoqualmie Pass, Stevens Pass, Tiger Mountain Summit, White Pass, Crystal Mountain, and Mount Rainier National Park. Forecasters expect up to one inch of new snow and a light glaze of ice, particularly on higher elevation roads.
While total snow accumulations are light, the combination of wet snow and freezing surfaces may create slick, icy conditions—especially on bridges and shaded roadways. Motorists are advised to slow down, use caution, and prepare for possible power outages in remote areas.
Travelers crossing the Cascades late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning should plan for reduced traction and longer travel times. Conditions are expected to improve after sunrise, with precipitation tapering off and temperatures gradually warming.
