Seattle, Washington – Smoke from nearby wildfires could drift into the Seattle metro area by Friday afternoon, bringing hazy skies and potential air quality concerns just as temperatures climb into the low 80s.

According to the National Weather Service in Seattle, areas of smoke are expected between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Friday. Highs will peak near 81°F under partly sunny skies, with calm morning winds shifting west-southwest at around 5 mph later in the day.

Overnight lows will drop into the low 60s with mostly clear skies. The weekend will bring some relief as temperatures dip slightly—Saturday and Sunday highs will hover in the upper 70s to mid-70s, with partly to mostly cloudy skies. Winds will remain light but shift northerly at times, helping to clear lingering smoke.

While the weekend remains dry, rain returns to the forecast early next week. A slight chance of showers begins Tuesday and continues through Thursday. Residents are encouraged to limit outdoor activity during smoky periods and check air quality reports if sensitive to pollution.

Smoke and haze may return periodically, especially during warm afternoons. NWS says additional advisories may be issued depending on wildfire behavior east of the Cascades.
