Seattle, Wash. – A stretch of wet weather is set to disrupt the Seattle area this weekend, with the heaviest showers expected Sunday, raising concerns for travel across Puget Sound. Roads could turn slick as rainfall builds Saturday night and lingers into early Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Seattle, rain chances climb to 50% by Saturday night before peaking at 80% on Sunday. The system may drop up to a quarter inch of rain, though localized downpours could make driving hazardous, especially along I-5 and Highway 99.

Saturday will start dry and mostly sunny with highs near 76, but clouds increase into the evening as the front moves in. Sunday’s rain and cooler air will bring highs down to the mid-60s, with showers persisting into Sunday night. A few lingering showers are possible Monday morning before skies gradually clear.

Residents are advised to keep umbrellas and rain gear handy, delay non-essential outdoor plans Sunday, and allow extra time for commutes. Wet roads paired with light weekend traffic could still cause minor spinouts or slowdowns.

Conditions improve by Tuesday as sunshine returns, with temperatures climbing back into the low 70s.
