Seattle, Washington – Washington is heading into a noticeable pattern change as above-normal temperatures begin to replace recent winter chill, offering a preview of spring-like conditions across much of the state during the February 7–20 period.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, temperatures across Washington are expected to trend above seasonal averages during this stretch, especially west of the Cascades. The warmer setup is expected to ease mountain cold while bringing milder daytime highs to lowland communities from Seattle and Tacoma north to Everett and south into the Olympia area.

While the warming trend points toward a quieter temperature pattern, it will not be completely dry. Pacific systems are expected to continue moving inland, bringing periodic chances for rain, particularly across western Washington. These systems are likely to arrive in waves rather than as prolonged storms, increasing the potential for wet roads and reduced visibility during commute hours.

In western Washington, the combination of mild air and precipitation could lead to localized ponding on roadways and slick conditions during heavier rain bursts. East of the Cascades, temperatures are also expected to moderate, reducing the threat of extreme cold while allowing for occasional rain or higher-elevation snow near mountain passes.

The warmer pattern follows weeks of active winter weather across much of the country and signals a temporary shift away from harsh conditions in the Pacific Northwest. Transportation agencies advise drivers to remain alert during rain events, particularly in urban corridors and along Interstate 5 and Highway 99.

Forecasters note that while this pattern leans milder, it does not signal an early end to winter. Additional shifts remain possible later in the month. Residents are encouraged to monitor updates as precipitation timing becomes clearer and as any additional advisories are issued during the February 7–20 window.
