Spokane, WA – Clear skies and cooling nights will bring Spokane its first widespread frost risk of the season by late Sunday into Monday morning, threatening sensitive plants and early commuters alike.

According to the National Weather Service Spokane office, temperatures will dip into the upper 30s Sunday night, with patchy frost possible in valleys and sheltered spots. Frost is expected again Monday morning before sunshine returns, warming highs into the upper 60s. The agency warns gardeners to cover late-season plants and advises residents to protect pets and outdoor plumbing from the chill.

Friday will turn sunny after a cloudy start, with highs near 70. Conditions stay mostly clear into the weekend, though lows fall steadily into the low 40s by Saturday night. Sunny skies continue Sunday with a high in the mid-60s, but temperatures plunge quickly after sunset, allowing frost to develop overnight.

The Washington State Department of Transportation urges caution for early drivers on rural roads, where patchy frost may cause slick spots near fields and low-lying areas. Residents are encouraged to dress in layers for chilly mornings and mild afternoons, and to keep phones and devices charged in case of localized power interruptions from cold-weather demand.

Temperatures rebound slightly into Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs pushing into the lower 70s under mostly sunny skies, but the fall frost season is now underway for the Inland Northwest.
