Spokane, WA – The National Weather Service in Spokane has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Western Okanogan County, warning of accumulating mountain snow from Saturday night through Sunday evening.

Forecasters say areas above 4,000 feet, including Washington Pass, could see 4 to 8 inches of snow beginning around 11 p.m. Saturday and continuing through 11 p.m. Sunday. The advisory covers much of the North Cascades region, where higher elevations will experience slippery and hazardous conditions.

According to the weather service, roads, bridges, and overpasses are expected to become slick, and travel could be very difficult, especially for drivers crossing Washington Pass on Highway 20.

Motorists are urged to slow down, carry traction devices, and check WSDOT travel alerts before heading into mountain areas. Lower elevations may see rain or a rain-snow mix, but significant accumulation is expected only above 4,000 feet.

This marks one of the first substantial snow events of the season for the North Cascades, signaling the transition into early winter conditions for the region.
