Spokane, Washington – Drivers across eastern Washington and north Idaho could face slick roads during the early morning hours Saturday as wet snow continues to fall across the Inland Northwest.

According to the National Weather Service in Spokane, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 a.m. Saturday for the Spokane and Coeur d’Alene metro areas, including Spokane Valley, Cheney, Airway Heights, Post Falls, Hayden, and Davenport.

Forecasters expect around 1 to 2 inches of additional wet snow, which could accumulate on roads and sidewalks overnight as temperatures remain cold.

Across the Palouse region, including Rosalia, Plummer, Potlatch, Oakesdale, and Tekoa, lighter snowfall totals of up to 1 inch are expected through the early morning hours.

Roadways including Interstate 90 between Spokane and Coeur d’Alene and U.S. Highway 195 across the Palouse could become slippery during periods of steady snowfall.

Officials urge drivers to slow down and use caution while traveling, especially during the overnight and early morning hours when snow may accumulate fastest.

Snowfall is expected to taper shortly after sunrise Saturday, though patches of slush and ice could continue affecting travel during the morning commute.
