Washington wakes up to a biting February chill across Spokane, where temperatures sit at 28 degrees and mist hangs low over neighborhood streets. Visibility has dipped at times in patchy fog, and untreated side roads feel slick under tires. Bridges along I-90 and U.S. 2 demand extra caution during the early commute.

The National Weather Service reports patchy fog early, followed by sunshine and a high near 47 degrees. Calm winds keep conditions quiet, but the cold air lingers in shaded areas. Any damp pavement could stay icy until late morning as temperatures slowly climb above freezing.

Tonight drops back to around 28 degrees under mostly clear skies. That sets the stage for another round of refreezing. This is prime time for flash freezing, especially where snowmelt crosses roadways. Allow extra space between vehicles after sunset.

Thursday stays mostly dry with highs near 44 and areas of morning fog. Clouds increase Friday, with highs near 42. By Valentine’s Weekend, scattered rain chances develop Saturday, and a rain–snow mix becomes possible Saturday night into Sunday as snow levels lower near 3,000 feet. While major accumulation is not expected in town, higher elevations could see light snow.

Early next week keeps periodic rain and snow chances in play. Longer-range signals hint at a broader warming trend developing later next week across much of the country.

Five Day Outlook for Spokane, WA:

Thursday: Morning fog, high 44.
