Lewiston, Idaho – Sweltering heat is set to grip much of eastern Washington and western Idaho Tuesday, with temperatures soaring as high as 105°F in cities like Lewiston, Wenatchee, Omak, and Moses Lake. Residents can expect hazardous conditions between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. PDT as a widespread heat advisory goes into effect.

According to the National Weather Service Spokane, the heat advisory covers the Lewiston area, Lewis and southern Nez Perce counties in Idaho, and stretches across the Columbia Basin, Okanogan Valley, Wenatchee, and neighboring regions in Washington. Temperatures from 97–105°F will push the risk for heat-related illnesses, especially for outdoor workers, the elderly, and those without air conditioning.

Communities including Kamiah, Clarkston, Coulee City, Ephrata, Chelan, Bridgeport, and Pomeroy should prepare for oppressive heat. Health officials urge everyone to stay hydrated, remain indoors when possible, wear loose-fitting clothing, and check on vulnerable neighbors. If you must be outdoors, limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening hours, and know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke—such as dizziness, confusion, or nausea.

This marks one of the hottest stretches so far this July, echoing the heat waves of past summers. Schools and local agencies may alter schedules or open cooling centers if conditions worsen.

Heat advisories remain in effect through 9 p.m. Tuesday. More updates or expanded warnings are possible if temperatures climb even higher.
