Washington – Light snow is already dusting rooftops across Spokane this morning, and mist hangs low over I-90 as temperatures hover near 32 degrees. Side streets look wet, but a quick freeze could turn them slick within minutes.
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. for the Spokane area, including Spokane Valley, Airway Heights, Cheney, and Pullman, as well as Coeur d’Alene and Moscow in Idaho. Snow totals of 1 to 3 inches are expected, with localized bands producing up to 5 inches in spots.
According to the National Weather Service in Spokane, small-scale bursts of moderate to heavy snow may create sharp differences in totals over short distances. That means one neighborhood could see a light coating while another wakes up to several inches.
Plan extra time if you’re heading out this morning. Snow-covered lanes and patchy freezing fog may reduce visibility and traction. Bridges and overpasses can ice up quickly when temperatures sit near freezing. Flash freezing becomes a concern later today as slush refreezes after sunset.
Highs reach near 36 this afternoon with only spotty additional snow. Conditions gradually improve, but roads may remain slushy. Tonight drops to around 22 under mostly cloudy skies.
Thursday brings a slight chance of snow early with highs near 38. Friday turns partly sunny and colder with highs in the mid-30s. The weekend trends milder, reaching the low 40s Saturday and mid-40s by Sunday with a rain-snow mix possible.
Early next week points toward above-normal temperatures, hinting at early spring warmth across eastern Washington and north Idaho.
